Casting Call

Posted in Uncategorized on August 14, 2012 by poolnight

First, Earl and I want to thank those people who have helped us get to this point. Thanks to our investors, Calvin at The Billiards Cafe, and the folks at Lighthouse Media. We wouldn’t be able to do this without your help.

We’re having a casting call September 14th and we’ve scheduled a filming at The Billiards Cafe in Ayer, MA for the 14th of October. The finished product should be done by the middle of November. Truly exciting times for us.

The script is awesome and the venue is gorgeous. If all goes according to the plan, you’ll all be watching PotShot Pool on TV next season.

Sizzle Reel update

Since the press release, we’ve been working on the script and format for a two minute video of our show that the industry calls the Sizzle Reel. We thought you might like a sneak peak at the script for a couple of the scenes. It’s been a thrill for us to be working with our script writer Patrick Kleinen and the folks at Lighthouse productions who have been great to work with. We’re looking forward to filming.

Excited to be anouncing our press release. Stay tuned for updates as we work to make this a reality (all puns intended)

Hot Starz to play cool game

Somerville, MA, February 11, 2012- Beautiful women, PotShot Pool make for new concept in televised billiards.

The Rack Starz and Poolnight LLC, two new companies to the billiards scene, are joining forces to bring a totally new look to pool on television.   The new show will have the look of a Texas hold-em show and feature an elimination format not unlike American Idol. The show, dubbed “Shooting Starz” will audition local players, and film in real pool halls, allowing viewers to follow the action of a live PotShot Pool tournament.   The show will be hosted by the internationally recognized Rack Starz, a group of young women pool players that are quickly changing the public’s image of a pool player.  The hosts include Jennifer Berretta 2011 Predator Tour 10-Ball Champion, the first female ever to win in Open/Pro, and recently named one of the 25 sexiest women in sports by ESPN. The show will culminate with one winner emerging to claim a million dollar prize and become America’s first “Shooting Star”.   The contestants will be playing PotShot Pool the brand new pool game just released for home play by Poolnight LLC. When asked what makes this game different from other pool games, co-inventor John Langwig says “PotShot was designed to be fast paced and compelling to watch. Our game will do for Pool what Texas-Hold-em has done for Poker. We’re thrilled to be teaming with the beautiful Rack Starz to bring this project to television”.

This combination of beautiful women, real pool players of all stripes, celebrities, real pool room action, and the most fun to watch pool game ever devised is destined to change the way people see pool on television.  Shooting Starz is exciting, sexy, realistic, and unpredictable; it’s pool like you’ve never seen it before.

PoolDawg has PotShot. We party with the Rack Starz

Posted in Uncategorized on November 22, 2011 by poolnight

I guess everything DOES all happen at once. We’ve had two major exciting developments in the same week. Earl, Ann, and I spent Friday night at Amsterdam Billiards partying with the Rack Starz at their calendar launch party. Many thanks to all involved. We had a great time.

We are thrilled to announce the release of PotShot Pool for home play. If you have a table you need one of these games. Here’s the link  Get yourself over to PoolDawg and get yourself one.

We had a great time in NYC. Pool is full of nice, intellegent and interesting people. We all know it’s a lot of fun to play. I would venture to say more people play pool than Texas-hold-em for instance. Yet we remain on the media sidelines, sponsorship sidelines, and prize money gutter. Our sport needs something to get people to notice, and we have the game to do it. We know once you try it you’ll see what we mean.

So go on out there and “Make the Shot, Take the Pot”. That’s how you play PotShot Pool “Pool’s Party Game”

PotShot at Jillian’s

Posted in Uncategorized on October 24, 2011 by poolnight

Sunday’s event saw some very competitive action. Coming out of the first round, Bob C. led the pack with $6,000 followed by Ann at $5,200, Bob Y. and Mark at $5,100, and Dave at $5,000.00. The second round saw dominating performances by Ann and John. Ann closed out her second round by winning a triple header on a billiard shot. John grabbed two double headers to surge to the final table. Meanwhile table three saw each shooter winning a game with everyone at the table finishing with the exact same money they came in with. Ann entered the final round five with 9,700 while John held 6,600. The trio of Mark, Bob Y, and Bob C., came in with 5400, 5,100, and 4,700 respectively.

Then in the fastest final table ever, John won game one on a two, six billiard, won the next game on the break with the one for the extra cash, and followed that by winning game three also on the one. Bob Y. then proceeded to win the last two games of the round… guessed it……on the ONE! This gave John the win and Bob Y. vaulted from fourth to take second with Ann third Mark fourth, and Bob C. coming in fifth.

Great job shooters. We’ll see you at the next one. Thanks so much to Jillian’s for the event sponsorship. We really appreciate the support. Same for our shooters, you guys are great. Thanks to all who came and played.

“Make the Shot, Take the Pot”

Hot fun in the Summertime!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 30, 2011 by poolnight

It’s been a full and busy summer. We’ll be announcing the first fall tournament soon. As you who read this blog know, we think the fabulous game of Pool has become stale, and boring to watch. PotShot Pool can change all that.

Speaking of something different in the Pool world, check out These women share the same concerns that we have for the state of Pool today. We’ve talked. Look for more in the future. In the meantime give them a look. Who knows, maybe we’ll get Liz Ford to come to one of our tournaments.

“Make the Shot, Take the Pot”

Record Set; King Crowned

Posted in Uncategorized on April 19, 2011 by poolnight

You really never know what’s going to happen at a PotShot Pool event, and this one was no exception. We have never had a player sweep a round, and Sunday it almost happened twice. First, thanks to Flat Top Johnny’s for sponsoring our twelfth tournament.

The first round saw Dick and Dan grabbing three games each and newcomer Bart winning a double-header on the break to end the round.

Second round action Saw Steve B. nearly post a shutout on table one, winning four of  five games, including a round ending PotShot victory in game five. Meanwhile on table two, Dan and Claire both grabbed double-header wins, with Dick winning the fifth game. This sent four players from table two to the final table.

Entering the final table, Steve B. had a slim $200.00 lead over Dan with 7700 and 7500 respectively. Dick came in with 6300 and Bart at 4200 and Clair at 4100 rounded out the table. But then everything broke Dans way. He grabbed the first game on the 8, followed by two “no winner” games. When Dan potted the six on game four and said “That’s me”, we knew who our winner was. But he wasn’t done, as he also won game five on the six ball, posting the first ever sweep in the final round. Steve B. finished second, Dick was third (his third, third place finish), Bart came in fourth, and Claire grabbed the womens trophy with fifth place.

Dan King, fresh off of wrist surgery and still wearing a brace, finished the event with $17,600.00 shattering the old record of $12,700.00 held by Jay. Hey Dan, get me one of those braces. Congratulations to Dan, and thanks to all who participated.

We are starting warm-ups at 3, and the event will start at 4. Thanks to Johnny’s for sponsoring us, and we’re excited to see you all  after our foray to the wilds of Ayer for two tournaments.

T-11 at The Billiards Cafe

Posted in Uncategorized on March 16, 2011 by poolnight

T-11 literally came down to the last shot. We had another new winner, and some great pool was played. Many thanks to Calvin and the folks at The Billiards Cafe. Also thanks to Dick Monroe.

After the first two rounds Dick was leading the pack with 6,400, followed by Rick with 5,900. Rick was hot in round two winning three games. I had the chance to see it close up as I was at his table giving him all my PoolCash, and that meant no final table for me. Dave and Tom both advanced with 4,500 and 4,400 respectively. Ann made the cut with 3,800.

As the round began, the low numbers were in play, as the first  game went to Dave on the two. Tom won game two on the one pill, and then he drew the one again and dropped a pretty rail first cut shot in the side to get game three.

Game four things tightened up and it went all the way to the nine. Dave got a nice layout and he ran to his nine ball for the win. Game five ended in a no winner, setting the stage for a tournament deciding PotShot round. Because “he’s Dave” you can guess who came out on top, and with that shot Dave secured the victory with a PoolCash count of 10,000. Tom finshed second with 6,900. Third went to Dick with 3,700; fourth to Rick with 3,300 and Ann was fifth with 1,300.

We’re talking to the people at Flat Top Johnny’s about having our next tournament there. Probably sometime in April. Stay tuned for more details.
