Fall Fun @ the Wave

Posted in Uncategorized on July 29, 2010 by poolnight

Hope you all are having a good summer. We’ve been busy aranging the next event. Earl and I are pleased to announce that we are teaming with the Corner Pocket at Wave in Waltham for the next tournament. They are located at 411 Waverly Oaks Road Waltham, MA. We picked a date of Sunday September 12,2010 and the time is 5-9 PM. That gives everyone time to watch the Pats play the Bengals at 1PM and still get over to the event.

For those of you who have never played at the Corner Pocket, the tables are Brunswick, the cloth is new or good as new, and they have food and drink. We’re excited about our new sponsor, and expect to draw some new players from their regulars. Remember, more players mean bigger prizes!! Plenty of off street parking at the Wave.

Earl and I are also working to line up sponsors to enhance our prizes. We’ll be talking to Sam Adams and other local companies about donating cash or merchandise to make the prizes even better, but don’t worry the winner still gets the most excellent trophy. If any of you know a business that would be interested in being a PotShot Pool sponsor, send an e-mail to maketheshot@potshotpool.com. and we’ll follow up.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the Corner Pocket at the Wave, and have a nice rest of the summer.

Weather and Celtics limit crowd

Despite howling gale force winds and the threat of Tornadoes (in Allston???) ten hardy soles played PotShot Pool last Sunday in a small but fun and action packed event. We had Kim return who hasn’t played since way back at the first event, and she brought Chris along.

Earl and I both played to round out the ten person field. After the first two rounds Jim and I were leading the field, and I felt good about my chances of winning going into the final table. However it was not to be as the newcomers went one, two by each winning two games and yours truly didn’t get a sniff. Jim knocked a few people off to hang on for third. We had a final game no winner and Earl bagged the PotShot on his first attempt to secure fourth place, putting me in fifth by $200.00. I think I had about as bad a final table as possible. No wins, killed four times, no kills.

We’ll be announcing the next event in a couple weeks, but we’re pointing toward the second or third Sunday in September. Probably September 12. Here are the results

name round one round two final round
Chris 4100 6600 9100

PotShot Video & Winning numbers

Posted in Uncategorized on May 11, 2010 by poolnight

Check out the vid from T-6. See you all at T-7 on June 6th at 5 PM

We have some interesting statistics from the first six events. After 192 games of PotShot Pool I have compiled the wins for each number.

One…..23               Two……21          Three……20      Four……14      Five……15.    Roughly as might be expected. But then,      Six……9                  Seven……16       Eight……12       Nine……11       Ten……4   and the most popular category,  No Winner…….47 games. So I guess the message here is you don’t want to be the six, or the ten. But whatever you do you want to “Make the Shot, Take the Pot”

T-6 Rocks Big City; New Record Set!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 27, 2010 by poolnight

Dear Fans and Players,

Thanks to all who attended our sixth tournament. Here are the results. Everyone had fun and some great pool was played. So far we haven’t had a repeat winner and once again a new player walked off with the top prize, and, of course that special trophy.

Last tournament winner Patrick, and former two time ladies trophy winner Ann, had dominant first round scores of $5,700.00 and $5,600.00 respectively. Lady luck didn’t hold for either player in the second round as Gene, Keith, and Steven posted big gains to join Jay and Cliff at the final table. Claire finished with $4,300.00 to edge out Ann for the womens trophy.

Nobody could manage a good look early in the final round, and the first two games ended with no winner. Looking at a triple pot in the final you knew that the next player to get a winning shot was going to be the champion, and Jay prevailed in game three with a fabulous win on the eight. Jay sank every ball that game with the exception of the one. Jay’s total accumulated PoolCash was $12,700.00 a new record, beating Keith’s former mark of  $12,500.00.

The five final table players were very close on the money count entering the finals so games four and five were going to determine the rest of the top five finish order. Game four went to Steven, and that was good enough for second place. The final game ended in a no winner, meaning a PotShot round, and Keith showed us he’s been working on the PotShot by draining two of them, earning third place.

Fourth went to Cliff repping the Poolnight team, and fifth to newcomer Gene. Nice work everyone. See you at the next one.

Speaking of the next one we’re thinking of moving the venue. We’ve tentatively chosen June 6th with a five PM start. We’re talking to the folks at F1 in Braintree, and depending on how that goes we may have some events there. Any comments are welcome and appreciated. F1 has a nice room with seven Brunswick tables and food and drink.

As you noticed, we had a video guy at the event. We’ll send you links when the vids are done. We’ll be posting on the PotShot Pool site, and on YouTube.

Thanks again to all of you for your support.

T-5 results

What an exciting final table we had Sunday. Click on the link above for all the results.

Coming into the final round all five players had the chance to walk off with top honors. Patrick struck first, winning a double header to start the round. He took game three as well, and it was looking like he’d be hard to catch. Newcomer Arjun was leading going into the round, but now he’d need both games four and five to take the event. Game four was a “no winner”, so a lot was at stake in game five. Ann won the double pot in game five giving her second place, the highest finish by a female player to date. Patrick grabbed the win, with Arjun, Earl, and Nick rounding out the top five.

Thanks to all our players. We’re having the next event  on April 25,2010. Tentative start time has been pushed back to 5 P.M. for the nice weather. See you at the next event.

Remember, more players means bigger prizes.
